[Puzzle 014]
[Sometimes, in the wake of a foundation-shattering event, all anyone can do is stare at what remains.
That is not true for Luke this time, and hasn't been in the entire two weeks since all of himself came rushing back. All things considered, he's been as upbeat and energetic as ever. Helpful, too - so many others seemed devastated in the aftermath, he felt and still feels like he ought to make up for it somehow.
The first thing he does with the free time in his Monday is go to the bakery and get a dozen of something. Donuts or cupcakes or similar things, anything sweet and delicious. Those treats are going to people he knows, if he can find them, especially the ones that haven't shown their faces of late.
Then it's time for the real substance of his day.
A puzzle.
He handwrites it out first, then reads it out for the benefit of anyone stymied on the writing front.]
A family gathers in a room for a party. In this family, there is a mother, a father, a son, a daughter, a brother, a sister, an auntie, an uncle, a niece, a nephew, and 2 cousins. However, there are only 4 people in the room. What are their relations to each other?

One woman can be all of those things, but not in this puzzle. You've got to have at least two women for it to work out.

So the mom and the dad aren't husband and wife to each other. Maybe it'd be easier if I imagine them as... Katara's mom and Toph's dad. One's a mom, one's a dad, but not to the same kids! And then... Toph's dad had Toph. That's a daughter! And Katara's mom had a son - Sokka! She had Katara, too, but I guess she's not in the room. Maybe she's out practicing bending?
But... oh, that still leaves a lot left to figure out. Who can be an uncle or an aunt or nephew or niece or cousins.
[Voice]
It might help if you write it all down or draw a picture.
[Voice]
[And he slowly starts drawing on the paper... pictures of Toph's dad, Toph, Katara's mom and Sokka. Of their faces, that is, smiling. Having never met Kya, she instead looks somewhat like an older version of Katara.]
So. We got... Mother, father, daughter, brothers. And all the other ones...
[He taps the journal with a writing utensil as he thinks.]
...They come from a brother or sister of a mom or dad. So...
I think I got it!
[Voice]
You can't use anyone but those four people! Anyone else they might be related to doesn't count.
[Voice]
[He draws a line between the two parent-faces.]
...each parent has the same parent? As in... Toph's dad and Katara's mom would be brother and sister! That would make Sokka and Toph... cousins! Toph would be Katara's mom's niece and she'd be her aunt. While Toph's dad would be Sokka's uncle and he'd be the nephew. That would... is that all of them?!
[Voice]
Could you...draw it, maybe? Or write it down? I think you've got it but it's hard to tell.
[Voice]
[So he starts to write it down - with a little drawing of the person's face next to each line.]
Daddy - Uncle - Brother (of the mommy)
Mommy - Auntie - Sister (of the daddy)
Daughter (of Daddy) - Niece (of Mommy) - 1 Cousin
Son (of Mommy) - Nephew (of Daddy) - 1 Cousin
How's that?
