[For some unfathomable reason, in all the stories Luke knows about fishermen, they go out at the crack of dawn to catch fish. That's not for him, no sir! He meanders along the river headed south to the lake at a decent hour, just after breakfast, intending to bring a gift to a dragon or two living in the village. It's cold but he doesn't seem to mind, bundled up and with a spring in his step. A few hours later, he returns bearing the scaly treats in a bucket, off to locate Hiccup and Astrid and their terrifying but awesome dragons.

That afternoon he works in the stables. After what feels like plenty of cleaning up and conversation, he realizes he might have a quiet moment alone and looks around. Nobody here. Good.

The boy completely forgets he left the journal open on a nearby stool, and so it records: Luke Triton, a little dirty and rough around the edges, turning with determined steps and pointing hard at...nothings.]

Aha! It's you! [Step, raise hand, point!] It's you! The guilty party... [Oh, he can almost hear the swish of authority as he turns and points at the book.] is you! Ha- ...Wait a minute... [Footsteps on dirt and straw draw closer, and then-]...Oh no!

[Are you appealing to his gentlemanly-ness, Luke? Good move.

Loki chuckles softly and finally nods.]

You are right, that has been highly uncouth of me. Yet, you have to agree with me as well since it has been quite funny. And I appreciate quite funny things, you see?

[It's a bit too late, Luke's got Loki on the 'bully' side of the line for the time being.]

I don't have to agree with you about anything! And it wasn't funny.

[He leans a bit closer to the screen and holds his thumb and indexfinger a teeny, tiny bit away from eachother.]

Of course I do understand we are not able to see eye to eye about this matter.

For your information, when the Professor does it it's real people and he is always spot on.

[Loki tries to contain his laughter because to him, you've just kind of admitted you were indeed talking to imaginary people. He finds that terribly funny, Luke.]

Well, you referred to a professor, so I had no other option left than to assume you are his student, yes?

Professors have students...if I am correct.

[He smiles.]

I am not familiar with professor Layton, I must say.

I'm not one of his students though, he's a university professor of archaeology. I'm learning how to be a true gentleman.

So this Professor Layton is also a professor in etiquette?

I do not wish to sound uncouth but you sounded more like you wish to become an investigator of crimes or a case solver.

[A pause.]

Of invisible cases. With imaginary people.

That last part is what makes you a bully! You didn't have to say any of that, you just did it to be mean.

Bullies are mostly involved when it comes to great pummeling, vicious insults and other quite painful acts.

A description like that does not befit me at all.

Saying things just to make me mad counts too.

But believe me...I did not mean to upset you.

[Loki pulls the most sincere face he can pull. Most of the time this indicates he's only 70% sincere and 30% laughing inwardly.]

[It is far too late. Luke doesn't believe Loki and he isn't inclined to trust his words now, either.]

If you didn't mean to then you wouldn't have said it. [He doesn't get why this is so hard for Loki to understand.]

My mouth is faster than my brain, you see?

[But it was so funny. He could not just let something like that go unnoticed.]

My intentions are good.

[Hpmh. No, not getting away with it.]

A true gentleman always thinks before he speaks.

[Loki disappears from the screen for a moment and returns with a bag of potato chips in his hand.]

I do believe you have a valid point there, yes.

[Still, it has been funny. No one could ever take that away.]

[He won't forget this though. Luke draws lines and crossing them gets you off the friend list.]

That fills me with a significant amount of joy.

[He nods.]
