[Come on, Luke, you're nearing fifteen and this is not the time and a true gentleman never lets his most painful emotions show in public this way.]

House five is going to be empty. After today.

[With Layton's, Maiza's, and Czeslaw's stuff gone, he doesn't even have a lot to pack. It keeps him out of school for the day, though. Maybe saying all that could serve as enough of an apology to Professor Sage and Toph and everybody.

After a while, in the true and final emptiness of the house, he sits for a while in the kitchen, opening the journal again to write about something that has, historically, made him feel better; this time, there's a lot of melancholy in with the entertainment.]

Does anybody know a good puzzle?

Oh. Still, you're already thinking too hard! Although...I don't know why they put in that past, present and future part in there. I should have just left it out.

I could put them in alphabetical order, I guess.

You could, but that doesn't have anything to do with going from the moon to the sun, now does it?

I never said anything about the cycle part of the clue not being any good!

[Right then. Puzzle zero zero one, find Loki's house. Too bad there's no intricate logic-riddle list of directions.

He gets there eventually. Knock knock.]

All right then, I'll put the moon at one end and the sun in the other and the rest can go in between in whatever order they choose.

So I guess the only way I'm going to get better at them is to practice a lot too, huh?

[This gives Loki more than enough time to make it to the item shop and find a couple of simpler puzzle boxes, then back.

He opens the door for Luke.]

Ah, there you are. Tea?

Tea? Sure, thanks. [Some of his usual enthusiasm still lies buried under the weight of losing so many important people.]

It helps. Some people are naturals with puzzles, because that's the way they think.

[He's just extra sensitive these days.]

Well...well all right, I accept your apology.

I have a bit of cake around somewhere if you'd like that too.

[He ushers Luke inside.] The puzzles are on the table.

And then other people have to put in a lot of practice if they want to be any good at all. It sounds like any other skill when you put it that way.

That's because it is. I don't know why people are so afraid of puzzles and riddles, they don't bite.

I'd always like a bit of cake. [His smile is small, but real. That's nice of Loki who is not always perfectly nice.] But not if you're saving it for something else.

I'm not overly fond of cake. You can dispose of it for me.

[He disappears into the kitchen and returns a few minutes later with tea and the cake.]

No, they just make you feel kind of dumb if you can't figure them out.

You don't like cake?

Not all the time! Some are very hard, actually, and you shouldn't feel bad about it.

I don't particularly like sweets.
